Ingredients

1 block tempeh
1 tsp paprika
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp maple syrup (or agave, you do you mate)
1 can butter beans
4 tbsp tahini
1/2 lemon juice
1/2 garlic clove
big pinch of salt
2 tbsp olivia oil
2 tbsp cold water
BREAD to toast

you see the speech marks? That means this is not bacon. omg no way, how did you do it calum? Well I used a block of tempeh. good old block of fermented soy beans that when you chop it into strips, you can make incredible tasting bacon that’s gonna fill you up and set your day off with a bang. also I haven’t gone bonkers, hummus and bacon is good for me.

Instructions

1.Chop tempeh into small strips and then fry until crispy (2 mins each side does the job)
2.Once you've flipped it, add in the soy sauce, then paprika and then the maple syrup. This is what makes your "bacon".
3.While the strips are frying, blitz the beans, tahini, salt, lemon, garlic & olive oil until it combines. Then slowly add the water until it forms a smooth hummus.
4.Toast your bread. Yes I have given a whole step for this, because it deserves it.
5.Once toasted, serve up the bread with hummus, then the bacon strips and finally, some rocket, for that extra fanciness. You're done now, go eat.
